Former Lt Gov of Texas Ben Barnes
Ben Barnes is mostly known as the former Lt. Governor of Texas. What a lot of people don’t know about Ben Barnes is that he’s wildly enthusiastic about charities.
Ben Barnes, politician from years ago was last in office in 1973. Since then he’s helped out a ton of groups. Barnes has spent time working on the People’s Community Clinic, the Boys and Girls Club of America, The LBJ Library and School of Public Affairs (where he also has a Fellowship named after him), the Huntington Art Gallery and the Longhorn Foundation which supports University of Texas at Austin athletics. Other charities Barnes and his wife Melanie contribute to are: The Daughters of Charity, Austin Community Foundation, Fractured Atlas (an endowment for the arts), Austin Museum of Art, Caritas Report (helping women with needs during times of crisis), the Ben and Melanie Barnes of Austin benefit of Men’s and Women’s athletics (through the University of Texas Longhorn Foundation), and many others. Barnes also does work as a fundraiser, raising $500,000 for 2004’s John Kerry Campaign
